What is Shockcord?

Shock cord, otherwise known as bungee cord, bungee rope or stretch cord, refers to a cord type with a core made up of one ore more elastic strands.

Our shock cords have a high tenacity polypropylene outer braiding, which delivers great resistance to abrasion, with added UV protection for work outdoors. Our shockcord is built to be durable and to be used repeatedly.

As you might imagine, the great property of shockcord is that it’s made to stretch – commonly referred to as elongation. It’s always a good idea to talk to our team here at Kendon Rope and Twine for accurate information about the strength and stretch safe working limits of the cord you want to buy.

We supply shockcord in 6mm-12mm diameters as standard. In broad terms, the thicker the diameter the stronger the shockcord. Our shockcord is sold on reels in a choice of black or white. Other diameters and colours can be sourced on request.

Shockcord has a great number of applications, particularly where a shock absorbing anchor point is a benefit. Key uses include: affixing kit, equipment and cargo to vehicles, raising and lowering objects, removal of materials from sites, emergency services, luggage straps, banner fastenings, securing tarpaulins and camping.

We also supply PVC coated spiral hooks of corresponding diameters, which are designed to be attached to the end of shockcord to facilitate securing to single or multiple points.
